Northern Ireland Customs and Trade Academy

The Northern Ireland Customs & Trade Academy (NICTA) is a new online learning platform preparing firms for new processes involved in moving goods under the Northern Ireland Protocol that started on 1 January 2021.  NICTA is supported by the Trader Support Service and offers short webinars on core topics relating to changes to Northern Ireland trade which took effect on 1 January 2021. These webinars complement longer courses and how-to guides and include past webinars including return goods relief, temporary admission and onward supply relief, Inward Processing, Authorised Use and customs excise warehouse, how to prepare for supplementary declarations and VAT & GB: NI Trade.

A list of events managed by is a free service offered by Invest Northern Ireland, with events organised by Institute of Export and International Trade, the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry and council events. Examples of upcoming events include, the basic procedures, terminology and documentation involved in importing, all the key areas of trade a business needs to familiarise themselves with to export successfully, what you need to know to complete customs declarations accurately and efficiently for import and export of goods, a one day training course that will help delegates to understand the Northern Ireland Protocol and the history and background of Incoterms and provides an overview of what they do and do not cover.
